Dulha Mil Gaya is a film about relationships and the changes that happen in people's lives when they fall in love. Tej (Fardeen Khan) is a wealthy man who likes women but does not intend on getting married. He has a friend who is a model, Shimmer (Sushmita Sen), and she is deeply in love with a man and does not intend to get married. Tej has to marry a girl his father chose so he can get his father's wealth. He marries Sammarpreet (Ishita Sharma).
Tej tells her that he will leave the city for a couple of days for work and will be in contact. Then Tej goes away for three months and doesn't contact his wife, so Sammarpreet decided to go to where he lives. When she gets there, she sees her husband dancing with another girl. She then walks sadly down the road and gets hit by a car. She rolls down a hill and stops at another road where Shimmer finds her. Shimmer realises that Tej has only married for money. She also doesn't have the heart to leave Sammarpreet in that situation. Shimmer gives Sammarpreet a makeover. Shimmer also changes Sammarpreet's name to Samara. Tej falls in love with her not knowing she is his wife. Then it is later revealed that Samara is Sammarpreet. When Samarpreet and Tej are a happy couple, even Shimmer finds a rich husband, Pavan (Shahrukh Khan).

[edit] Casting
Shahrukh Khan was set to make a 60-minute appearance in the film. He filmed about 17 scenes and three songs. Among the three, one is his entry sequence. Khan enters the film in the second half but has a very powerful role. He was a part of the publicity but only within the parameters of his role. The film was not marketed as a Shahrukh Khan film.[2]
Sushmita plays the role of a successful supermodel called Shimmer.[3]
[edit] Filming
About half of the movie was shot in Amritsar and Mumbai. The other half was filmed in Trinidad and Tobago over a month and a half period in 2007, making it the first Bollywood film to be shot in the islands.[4] Production was delayed a year and a half while Shahrukh Khan found time to shoot his scenes. Production was further delayed when Khan injured his shoulder during an action scene.[5]
[edit] Critical response and opening
The reviews to the film were rarely all negative, blaming the script and lack of comedy. The film had a poor opening.
[edit] Box office
Dulha Mil Gaya made only Rs.3.42 crores at the box office. It was declared a 'disaster' by Box Office India due to the lacklustre business.[6]
[edit] Shahrukh Khan controversy
Shahrukh Khans name was used to promote the film, his name was featured prominently in music videos and the offical first look. However in the lead up to the release, Shahrukh Khan distanced himself from the promotion, claiming that the producers asked him to make a special appearance in the film but failed to tell him that they would market the film on his name, as a result Shahrukh Khan said he would no longer make special appearances in films. When the film flopped, due to the high level of promotional material featuring him, some Box office analysts and detractors claimed the film to be a "Shahrukh Khan flop" including it in his list of commercial failiures, though it technically is not as firstly, Shahrukh Khan never physically promoted the film and secondly his appearance in the film is only in the second half of the film. The film is technically a "Fardeen Khan flop".

[edit] Reception
[edit] Critical reception
The film has received negative to mixed reviews. Mihir Fadnavis of India.com, who gave the film 1 star out of 5, called it "a mind numbing travesty that ought to be avoided at all costs."[5] Anupama Chopra, Consulting Editor, NDTVMovies.com finds the movie "depressingly dim-witted".[6] Rajeev Masand called it "painfully predictable" and gave it one out of five stars.[7] Noyon Jyoti Parasara of AOL.in also criticized the script saying "What ‘PI’ loses on is writing.".[8] Conversely, Bollywood Hungama said, "A love story works if you fall in love with the on-screen characters and also if it knocks on the doors of your heart. Pyaar Impossible does that. [It] may not be the ultimate romantic film, but you can't deny the fact that there's something about this film that stays with you, that you carry home... sorry, carry in your heart."[9] Nikhat Kazmi of The Times of India gave it three stars out of five, arguing that the strength of the movie lay in its intense performances, something that overcame the weak storyline.[10]
Among US critics, Frank Lovece of The Hollywood Reporter said the "predictable Bollywood romantic comedy sinks under the weight of Uday Chopra, a charmless leading man with a small range of expressions," but praised the director, who "keeps both romantic complications and corporate shenanigans moving along at a good, grounded clip, and his experience as a former child actor probably helped wickedly precocious newcomer Advika Yadav, who as a 6-year-old romantic mastermind steals her scenes with conviction."[4] Rachel Saltz of The New York Times said the film "shouldn’t work, but does. It's sweet, and as formula goes, deftly done and satisfying," and called Priyanka Chopra "one of the most likable of the new crop of Hindi film stars. She is an effortless comedian...."[11]
[edit] Box office
Pyaar Impossible made about Rs. 5.95 Crore[12] and was declared a box office flop by Box Office India.
